Hats, mugs, calendars, bags, stickers and t-shirts are available to help you celebrate Duxbury's 375th. All proceeds go to benefit the town's cultural activities and celebrations in 2012.

Merchandise is available for sale at the Town Clerk's office at Duxbury Town Hall or at Duxbury Mortgage Services.

375th Essay contest!

An Essay Contest for Duxbury's 375th Birthday!

The 375 Committee is sponsoring an essay contest for all Duxbury students, grades 2 through 12 (regardless of where they attend school) to commemorate the long and rich history of our town. The theme What Makes Duxbury Unique to Me! could reflect:

·      our history from our Pilgrim roots/our founding days/earliest settlers

·      the contributions of our ancestors

·      the scenic beauty of our town

·      the development of our town into a thriving community south of Boston.

The contest will run from April 9 through May 11, 2012. (No essays will be accepted after May 11, 2012). An application form must be submitted with the essay and may be picked up at the Town Hall, the Duxbury Library, The Duxbury Clipper office, Duxbury Mortgage Company in Halls Corner or from our website.

Essays will be judged on 1.) originality 2.) standard English conventions 3.) topic development 4.) organization and 5.) rich language/word choice, and should not exceed 750 words. The decision of the judges is final.

Four winners (one from each grade level group) in grade 2, grades 3-5, grades 6-8, and grades 9-12, will be awarded cash prizes. In addition, the winners will receive certificates and ribboned medals and will be recognized during the town-wide celebration on Sunday, June 17, 2012 on the Town Green.

375th Committee Announces Lecture/Film Series

As part of the year-long festivities and educational programs celebrating the 375th anniversary of Duxbury’s incorporation, the Duxbury 375th Anniversary Committee will present a lecture/film series entitled, “History through the Lens.”  The series is organized in collaboration with the Duxbury Free Library.
